I Am A Writer

A page of handwritten words in a lined notebook and hand holding mechanical pencil
Freewriting to get my creative juices flowing,
but my handwriting needs work.

I am a writer. Am I a writer? I can barely write by hand anymore. Does it count as “writing” if it’s only typed? Of course!

So, now I am practicing my low-tech writing skills propped on the steering wheel, waiting outside our co-op on the first day of the school year because I am germy, but my 7th grader is not.

Is this what’s wrong with my writing? Nope. Not at all. I don’t write often by hand anymore, except for grocery lists and lesson plans—in print! This notebook is also getting in my way. I am left-handed, after all.

So, why am I writing this? These are my thoughts. This is an exercise to get my creative juices flowing.

I was sick over the weekend. Fever. Yucky drainage. Not the worst I’ve ever had, but I had to slow down. Shift. I’m still stuffy but improving.

It’s time to set aside the time-wasters and get things done that have been awaiting my attention for far too long. Old projects and new ones. Digital and physical. All of these items on my mile-long to-do list will feel so rewarding once accomplished.

So… what’s first? This. Starting this blog and improving my little space online.

Thanks for reading!
